Job Description
Diamond Rehab is looking for a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant for a full-time position at our skilled nursing facility Sabine Retirement in Many, LA. You should hold a license, applied for a license, or getting ready to apply for a license.
Job Summary
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. The COTA assists in implementing treatment plans to promote independence, safety, and quality of life for individuals of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in carrying out individualized occupational therapy treatment plans developed by an Occupational Therapist
Provide therapeutic activities to improve patients’ motor skills, coordination, strength, and functional abilities
Help patients practice daily living skills such as dressing, eating, grooming, and mobility
Observe and document patient progress, responses to treatment, and any concerns
Communicate patient progress and challenges to the supervising Occupational Therapist
Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, adaptive equipment, and strategies for daily activities
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment environment
Follow all facility policies, safety standards, and ethical guidelines
Required Qualifications
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Current state licensure or certification as a COTA
Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
CPR certification (often required)

Physical stamina to assist patients and perform therapeutic activities

Physical Requirements
