The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Gear Engineering Specialist to join our team. The Gear Engineering Specialist will help prevent scrap, reduce scheduling impacts and implement changes. Additionally, they will also help in training and developing new employees to ensure all projects are performing to the highest potential.

The Gear Engineering Specialist will also be responsible for:

  • Oerlikon G Series Gear Grinder Programming & Troubleshooting
  • Kapp VX Series Gear Grinder Programming & Troubleshooting
  • Hypoid and Spiral Bevel Gear design development using KIMoS
  • Klingelnberg P Series Inspection Machine Programming & Troubleshooting
  • Document and PPAP new developed gearing products
  • Roll Test Programming and Troubleshooting
  • Shaper Programming and Troubleshooting
  • PFMEA and DFMEA Creation
  • KISSsoft and KIMoS programming and evaluation
  • Creating thorough work instructions and setup documentation for all gear manufacturing processes
  • Analyze gear distortion data and provide recommendations to engineering on pre/post heat treatment machining tolerances
  • Mentor Cell Specialists and engineering on all aspects of gear manufacturing
  • Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated
  • Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards
  • Ensure the continuous flow of materials and parts through the Cell
  • Adhere to all safety standards and regulations
  • Participate in the training and development of other Cellular Manufacturing Associates to promote the continuous quality improvement of manufacturing
  • Strive to accomplish team goals and enhance the quality of machined parts through the reduction of scrap and improvement of throughput

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering required

  • 10+ years of experience in Gear design and manufacturing required

  • Experience with the following is required:

  • Oerlikon G Series Gear Grinders

  • Kapp Niles VX Series Gear Grinders

  • Klingelnberg P Series Inspection Machines

  • Gear Shaping, Hobbing, and Skiving

  • Bevel and Spur Gear roll testing machines (Gleason preferred)

  • KiMOS and KISSoft for gear design/evaluation

  • Solid fundamentals in PFMEA/DFMEA creation

  • Experience working with carburized and nitrided steel and subsequent processing post case hardening

  • Physical lifting requirements include ability to lift 50 pounds (4 inches to 25 inches), capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 pounds, a grip strength of at least 50 pounds, and be able to reach above the shoulder (65 inches).

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

  • Position requires the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U. S.
