Penn Machine Company, a Marmon Group/Berkshire Hathaway Company, is seeking a passionate and experienced Gear Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team in Johnstown, PA (relocation support available for candidates located outside our local area).

Your Impact:

• Be our subject matter expert in gears
• Design, develop, and optimize gear manufacturing processes (machining, hobbing, grinding, heat treat)
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure quality and performance
• Select tools, materials, and machines for gear production
• Design fixtures and special tooling to support manufacturing
• Lead and support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives to support gear manufacturing
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to resolve challenges
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for gear-related issues
• Stay current with industry trends, gear standards (AGMA, ISO), and emerging technologies

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field
• 3+ years' experience in gear manufacturing or related fields
• Experience with gear design preferred. Heat treat and metallurgy experience are pluses.
• Solid understanding of gear types (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and gear cutting methods
• Familiarity with CNC machines, CAD/CAM, and gear design software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills
• Lean manufacturing experience; Black Belt certification a plus
