Immaculate Conception – St. Joseph School (ICSJ)Location: ICSJ Hill Street, Chicago, IL 60657Season Dates: March 17, 2026 – May 9, 2026Compensation: $1,700 stipendGrades: 4th–8th Grade (Co-Ed)

Position Overview

Immaculate Conception – St. Joseph School is seeking a Head Track & Field Coach for the Spring 2026 season. This role is ideal for a coach who enjoys teaching fundamentals, introducing structured track & field drills, and creating engaging practices for middle school athletes.

Our current program has strong participation and two highly involved parent coaches. We are looking for a coach (or coaches) who can elevate the program by bringing intentional track & field instruction, event-specific drills, and a clear practice plan—beyond simply running laps.

Practices take place at Stanton Park, located directly behind the school, which provides ample space for drills and skill development.

Schedule & Commitment

  • Practices: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 3:15–4:30 PM
  • Meets: Approximately 5–7 meets during the season
  • Practices per week: 2

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate track & field practices
  • Introduce athletes to a variety of track & field events and drills
  • Create and follow a structured practice schedule
  • Teach fundamentals such as sprinting mechanics, endurance training, jumping, and throwing basics
  • Collaborate with involved parent coaches to support athlete development
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun team environment
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior coaching or playing experience in track & field (youth, high school, or collegiate level preferred)
  • Ability to teach drills and skills across multiple track & field events
  • Organized, energetic, and comfortable working with grades 4–8
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for youth development
