Job Description

Missions Inc. Programs provides housing, emergency shelter and supportive services to domestic abuse survivors and those seeking recovery from substance use disorders. We offer a collaborative and safe community for clients to heal and transform their lives.Locations:   Programs located in Plymouth, Columbia Heights and St. Paul, MNFull Time:   30-40 hours per week (0.75 or 1.0 FTE)Position Summary: Provide oversite regarding medication monitoring and medical consultation and training at all housing programs.Position Responsibilities:
  1. Provide medical consultation, including crisis consultation, and act as liaison between client/program and medical facilities or providers.
  2. Evaluate client’s potential for admission (disabled, high acuity, etc.).
  3. Provide emergency first aid and refer to 911/hospital when needed.
  4. Provide follow-up on all hospitalized clients.
  5. Coordinate admits/transfers from Mission Nursing Home.
  6. Ensure that medical equipment is in proper working order.
  7. Assist residents with COVID testing as needed.
  8. Assist residents with blood glucose testing, as needed
  9. Provide blood pressure monitoring.
  10. Conduct medical history assessments of all new residents and make referrals as necessary.
  11. Oversee medication monitoring including destruction of discarded/unused/outdated medications.
  12. Train staff on medication monitoring.
  13. Conduct program/client-specific monthly education classes.
  14. Assist clients with making medical/physical therapy appointments
  15. Review and provide input on all medical related policies and procedures.
  16. Conduct Narcan and other staff training twice monthly.
  17. Key participant in Quality Improvement program including review of quarterly reports and meetings to ensure quality of medical response and monitoring is provided.
  18. Review and provide input on Infection Control Program plan, policies and procedures changes or updates, as needed.
  19. Do Mantoux testing on all new employees except JRC.
  20. Other duties as required.
Position Qualifications:
    1. LPN or RN
    2. Knowledge of addiction and alcoholism and medical complications associated with both.
    3. Two years’ experience in addiction medicine preferred.
    4. Ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds.
Other Requirements:
  1. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job which may include walking, bending, stooping and kneeling multiple times per shift.
  2. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  3. Lifting up to 25 pounds..
  4. Ability to ascend and descend at least two flights of stairs.
Compensation and Benefits: Hourly rate based on license and experience $28-$38 per hour.
