Role Overview
We are seeking aManager of Software Engineeringwith strong operationalexpertiseand experience in process improvement and ideally Business Analysis/ProjectManagement.This role combines technical leadership with operational excellence, ensuring that our marketplace systems run reliably while projects are delivered on time and aligned with businessobjectives.
This position is located in Arlington, VA and will have a 4-day onsite schedule Monday-Thursday, with Fridays work from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering LeadershipManage and mentor software engineers focused on backend services, APIs, and operational tooling for Homes.com marketplace.
Project ManagementPlan, prioritize, and execute software projects using Agile methodologies; manage timelines, resources, and stakeholder expectations.
Business AnalysisGather and analyze requirements from Product and Operations teams; translate business needs into technical specifications and actionable tasks.
Operational ReliabilityDrive initiatives to improve uptime, scalability, and incident response for listing ingestion, search services, and customer-facing APIs.
Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Product, Data Operations, and Infrastructure teams to align engineering priorities with marketplace growth goals.
Compliance & SecurityEnsure adherence to privacy, security, and regulatory standards across all marketplace services.
BasicQualifications:
Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university
A track record of commitment to prior employers
6+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
Proven experience inproject managementand/orbusiness analysiswithin technology environments.
Strong understanding of operational processes, Agile methodologies, and SDLC.
Experience with API design,microservicesarchitecture, and large-scale data ingestion.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Background in operations or process optimization within a technology environment
Familiarity with observability tools, incident management, and operational dashboards.
Ability to balance technical depth with strategic thinking.
Certifications such asPMP,Scrum Master, orCBAPare a plus.
