Job Description

If you want a real career in HVAC—not just a job—this is the shop.

On The Way AC is hiring Residential HVAC Service & Maintenance Technicians. We are open to newly certified techs who are hungry and coachable, and we are equally interested in experienced techs who want a company with standards, systems, and leadership that actually supports performance and their people.

This is not a “run-and-gun” or “parts changer” environment. We run a proven process built around being a Confident Advisor: diagnose correctly, communicate clearly, present options, and deliver 5-star service.

Why This Role is Different

You will work with top-notch operators who take training, customer experience, and professionalism seriously. If you want to grow into a bigger role, move into leadership, or build a long-term career path with a high-performing company—this is the lane. Whether you're a local tech looking for stability and growth, or you're someone willing to relocate and build a serious future, On The Way AC is a place where high standards come with real opportunity.

What You'll Do

You'll serve residential customers by maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heating and air conditioning systems—while delivering a professional experience that earns repeat business and 5-star reviews.

Core responsibilities

  • Perform residential HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs with quality-first workmanship

  • Protect customers' homes (shoe covers, drop cloths, clean work areas) and leave the home better than you found it

  • Clearly explain what you're doing and why—earn trust through transparency and education

  • Re-check system operation after servicing/repairing before leaving (fix it right the first time)

  • Accurately document findings and outcomes in the system before leaving the home

  • Maintain a clean, organized truck and ensure proper tools/inventory are ready daily

  • Follow safety procedures on the road and in customers' homes

  • Coordinate with Service/CBC manager and Supervisors to handle higher-risk systems and schedule follow-ups efficiently

  • Present the value of our maintenance club to eligible customers and support renewals

What We Expect (Transparent, No Games)

We are very clear about expectations because that's how great teams operate.

Top performers here are:

  • Consistent (do it the right way every call)

  • Coachable (you want feedback and you apply it)

  • Process-driven (you follow the system because it works)

  • Professional (appearance, communication, and respect for the customer's home)

  • Accountable (you take ownership of quality and outcomes)

Schedule / On-Call

We believe in taking care of customers whenever they need us, without burning out our technicians. On-call is rotational, organized, and kept as light as possible. We prioritize smart scheduling, strong daytime execution, and proper coverage so techs can have a real life outside of work. When assigned an on-call shift, we expect you to be available, but we're intentional about keeping after-hours calls limited and reasonable.

Compensation

We offer a structure that rewards performance with real upside. Your exact compensation details will be discussed during the interview process based on your experience, certifications, and role level.

Requirements (Must-Have)

  • EPA certification (required)

  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record

  • Ability to work in typical field environments (attics, outdoor conditions, ladders, etc.)

  • Strong customer communication and professionalism

  • Willingness to follow process and be coached (training is part of the job)

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Residential service or sales experience

  • NATE certification or advanced diagnostics training

  • Comfort presenting repair options and educating customers on system reliability risks

How to Apply

Apply with your resume or work history. If you're certified, coachable, and ready to run calls the right way, we want to talk.
