Job Description
Polk Mechanical is seeking an experienced and dedicated HVAC Service Technician to join our growing team in Houston. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality service and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment. This role also involves supporting other skilled trades, ensuring job site readiness, and delivering exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues, identifying necessary repairs or replacements.
- Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, including fans, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), and refrigerant systems.
- Perform system startups and commissioning.
- Collect and interpret system data (e.g., static pressure, voltage, amperage, CFM).
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Complete and submit all required documentation daily.
- Work independently, setting and achieving goals with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
- Travel to customer sites within the greater Houston area.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including safe driving practices.
- Be available for on-call service as needed, including evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of HVAC service experience.
- Proficient in refrigerant system installation, evacuation, and charging.
- Experience with HVAC equipment startup and commissioning.
- Familiarity with HVAC instruments and data collection.
- EPA Universal Certification required.
- Strong knowledge of routine maintenance procedures (e.g., filter changes, belts, compressors, motors).
- Understanding of control systems, including wiring, thermostats, and related devices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
