Job Summary

A&K Travel Group (AKTG), the parent company to Abercrombie & Kent and Crystal Cruises,isseeking a highly motivated attorney to join AKTG’s legal team as In-House Legal Counsel in Aventura, Florida. As In-House Legal Counsel, you will play a crucial role in partnering with AKTG’s business functions to support the company’s growth while helping our in-house legal team manage its risk. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented attorney who is comfortable working in a pragmatic, very fast-paced environment and has an established background in corporate law.Candidate must bring demonstrableexperience to the table as well as a desireto round out their expertiseby taking on a wide range of additional work for a global company, including, but not limited toplaying a primary role in assisting with the legal side of business acquisitions,leading or assisting with high-level corporate governance,carrying out legal work involved in corporate financings, managing corporate processes,drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, assisting withthe company’s intellectual property portfolio, supporting dispute resolution efforts, and any other legal matters that may arise.

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide practical, business -focused legal advice to internal stakeholders across all areas of the company’s global operations. 

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including newbuild contracts, partnership agreements, licensing, and service contracts. 

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal polices, and assist in developing and implementing compliance processes and controls. 

  • Advise on corporate finance matters and internal corporate processes, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies. 

  • Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate legal work as needed to support business objectives.

  • Support and maintain the company’s intellectual property portfolio in coordination with internal teams and external advisors. 

  • Assist with dispute resolution matters, including claims management, pre-litigation, strategy, and coordination with outside counsel. 

  • Provide legal support for business acquisitions, divestitures, and restructurings as needed

  • Lead or support special legal projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, and efficiencies.

Competency

Education:

  • Law degree from a recognized university.

Experience:

  • 3-7+ years ofcorporate law experience in a respected large law firm and/or in-house.

  • Must also have experience drafting, negotiating, and taking the lead on commercial contracts. 

  • Additional experience with securities, insurance, or privacy law and regulation preferred, but not required.  

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.

  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements applicable to a global organization 

  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, procurement, and executive leadership teams.

  • Mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance experience are a plus, but not

  • Strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.

  • Cruise or travel industry experience highly preferred. As a minimum, experience operating in a highly regulated industry.

  • Exceptional organization, prioritization,problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced, dynamic environment, producing pragmatic and actionable legal work product

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs. 

Work Environment

Works in a typical office environment with quiet-to-moderate noise generated by computer printer, fax machine and light traffic. 

Physical Demands

Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reachingMay require lifting or pushing up to 25 poundsRequires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, calculators, the telephone, and other office equipment.  

Expected Hours of Work

The position is full-time and frequentlyrequires workingadditional time outside of normal business hours.
