Job Description

 

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our DevSecOps team in Herndon. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems meet the highest security standards while supporting mission-critical applications. You will play a critical role in shaping and integrating security into every phase of the development and deployment lifecycle.

 

Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with Polygraph

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure architectures for information systems across various environments.

  • Perform risk assessments and provide mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.

  • Lead efforts to support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process, including the preparation of:

    • System Security Plans (SSP)

    • Contingency Plans (CP)

    • Security Assessment Reports (SAR)

    • Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M)

  • Collaborate with System Owners, developers, and stakeholders to ensure security compliance.

  • Integrate security controls throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Support the automation of cloud infrastructure security using CI/CD and DevSecOps principles.

  • Utilize tools such as AWS CloudWatch, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Splunk, or ELK for proactive monitoring and compliance.

  • Participate in audits, penetration testing, and incident response activities.

  • Stay informed on emerging threats and the evolving cybersecurity landscape.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • At least one relevant certification:

    • CISSP, CASP+, CEH, GSLC, Security+, AWS Certified Security, or similar.

  • Experience with security compliance tools and platforms such as eMASS, XACTA, Nessus, ACAS, or equivalents.

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Network security principles

    • Operating systems (Windows and Linux)

    • Encryption technologies

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with secure coding practices and DevSecOps tools/pipelines.

  • Experience with cloud security best practices, especially in AWS environments.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
