Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our DevSecOps team in Herndon. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems meet the highest security standards while supporting mission-critical applications. You will play a critical role in shaping and integrating security into every phase of the development and deployment lifecycle.
Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with Polygraph
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement secure architectures for information systems across various environments.
Perform risk assessments and provide mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.
Lead efforts to support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process, including the preparation of:
System Security Plans (SSP)
Contingency Plans (CP)
Security Assessment Reports (SAR)
Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M)
Collaborate with System Owners, developers, and stakeholders to ensure security compliance.
Integrate security controls throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Support the automation of cloud infrastructure security using CI/CD and DevSecOps principles.
Utilize tools such as AWS CloudWatch, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Splunk, or ELK for proactive monitoring and compliance.
Participate in audits, penetration testing, and incident response activities.
Stay informed on emerging threats and the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
At least one relevant certification:
CISSP, CASP+, CEH, GSLC, Security+, AWS Certified Security, or similar.
Experience with security compliance tools and platforms such as eMASS, XACTA, Nessus, ACAS, or equivalents.
Strong working knowledge of:
Network security principles
Operating systems (Windows and Linux)
Encryption technologies
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with secure coding practices and DevSecOps tools/pipelines.
Experience with cloud security best practices, especially in AWS environments.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
