Job Description

Initiatives project engineer

Sanford, NC

COTY is looking for smart leaders who are fast and passionate.

Join Coty to drive industrialization of new initiatives through engineering, design, and fast prototyping.

Contribute to beauty manufacturing innovation by bringing packaging components from concept to production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As our Initiatives Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the engineering and industrialization of new initiatives components, ensuring technical readiness from design validation through production implementation.

You will work cross-functionally to execute line trials, resolve technical issues, and deliver robust, scalable solutions that meet safety, quality, cost, and performance objectives.

Your main focus:

  • Engineering & Design (New Initiatives)
  • Contribute actively to engineering and design tooling related to the industrialization of new initiatives components, acting as a technical reference within assigned projects.
  • Support and coordinate the validation of components such as glass bottles, folding cartons, and other cosmetic packaging components (e.g., pumps, caps, labels), from concept definition to implementation on production lines.
  • Develop, review, and validate 2D drawings and 3D models (components and assemblies), ensuring alignment with operational, quality, and industrial constraints.
  • Apply 3D printing and fast prototyping techniques to validate concepts, assess fit and functionality, and accelerate development and decision-making for new initiatives.
  • Interface with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability, and timely execution of designed solutions.
  • Project Management & Industrialization
  • Manage industrialization tasks to ensure delivery in line with project objectives and KPIs (Safety, Cost, Quality, OEE).
  • Execute and follow up activities during Line Trials (LT) and Change Requests (CR), ensuring on-time completion and proactive escalation of risks.
  • Own and track assigned actions resulting from FMEA, LT, or CR, providing clear status updates to project stakeholders.
  • Testing, Commissioning & Troubleshooting
  • Play an active role during testing and commissioning phases of new initiatives, supporting execution on production lines.
  • Analyze incidents identified during trials and propose technically sound countermeasures, escalating complex issues when required.
  • Verify solution effectiveness to ensure stable, repeatable, and robust line performance.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
  • Ensure technical documentation related to assigned initiatives is complete, accurate, and released on time (setting cards, handbooks, drawings, technical reports).
  • Participate in training and knowledge transfer sessions with Operations to ensure correct execution and sustainability of implemented solutions.
