Job Description

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Intern – Marketing Graphic Designer

Position Summary

The Marketing Graphic Design Intern will work within Midland’s Marketing Department, collaborating closely with the graphic design team to develop creative assets that support the bank’s brand and business objectives. This internship provides hands-on experience in print, digital, video, and multi-media design while offering opportunities to present concepts, collaborate across departments, and strengthen technical and creative skills in a professional setting.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Support the Marketing Design Division by assisting with projects across print, digital, and video formats.
  • Develop design concepts and rough layouts for internal and external marketing campaigns.
  • Present creative ideas to the design team and marketing managers for feedback and refinement.
  • Apply and maintain consistency with Midland’s brand standards across all materials.
  • Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and marketing presentations to gain cross-departmental insight.
  • Attend professional development sessions focused on advanced design skills, guided by the Graphic Design Team Lead.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and external vendors or agencies to support marketing initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field, with at least two years of coursework completed.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) required.
  • Knowledge of photography, videography, web/digital design, and multi-media applications (e.g., After Effects) a plus.
  • Strong creativity, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn new tools and design techniques.

Internship Details:

  • Internship duration: Must be available mid-May through late July 2026.
  • Schedule: Must be available Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (40 hours/week).
  • Must reside locally and report to the Effingham, IL Headquarters.
