WHAT YOU WILL DO

As an Intern in the TopBuild SEC Corporate Accounting and SEC Reporting team, you will have "hands-on" experience in performing account analyses, creating journal entries, reconciling key accounts at month-end, assisting in preparing financial statements/footnotes and other disclosures in SEC filings and performing ad-hoc tasks as they arise. In short, being a contributing, value-added member of the team.

We are seeking a self-starter, one looking for a challenge and interested in working with a leading public reporting company. The right individual for this role is a person interested in applying the accounting learned in school to real-world scenarios. A desire to learn is very important, and this role includes communicating with a wide range of others in the organization (including legal, tax, HR/payroll, IT, FP&A, investor relations, among others).

  • Contribute to the success of our 2026 business performance.
  • Work as a member of a team and build positive working relationships with team members in functional business area.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Form 11-K and tie-out of supporting workpapers.
  • Participate in the preparation of the second quarter Form 10-Q and tie-out of supporting workpapers.
  • Review XBRL tagging and complete GAAP checklist for the second quarter Form 10-Q.
  • Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Coordinate external auditor requests and provide updates to your manager.
  • Partner with other departments to provide Investor Relations, FP&A and accounting teams with financial data as requested.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g. online courses, visiting construction sites, career development mentoring).
  • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership of new and different tasks outside of those listed; explores opportunities to add value to the organization.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Degree: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in a four-year academic institution majoring in accounting
  • Course of Study: Demonstrated academic success (GPA of 3.2 or higher) with completion of Intermediate Accounting.
  • Special Certification or Licensing: N/A
  • Special Requirements: Permanent legal right to work in the U.S.

Compensation Range:

$13.00 - $30.00

The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
