Position Summary
This position is designed to span the duration of the third professional year in pharmacy school, generally running from July through June, with successful promotion in pharmacy school to their fourth professional year leading to a role change to a Pharmacy Intern - P4.
Assists Licensed pharmacists in the following areas:
1) Patient satisfaction
2) Operation of a pharmacy in conformance with all laws pertinent to the practice of pharmacy.
3) Assuring accurate and timely processing of orders, including completing inventory tasks as needed.
4) Communicating with other healthcare personnel to optimize the medication management of all patients
Minimum Requirements
Education
- HS Diploma (or GED) required; actively enrolled in third professional year of accredited PharmD program
Experience
- Pharmacy experience
License/Registration/Certifications
- Registered with SC Board of Pharmacy as Pharmacy Intern

Core Job Responsibilities
- Follows attendance, dress, education (including continuing education) and safety policies in a professional manner that displays individual growth toward licensure as a salaried professional upon completion of pharmacy education.
- Complies with appropriate regulatory agencies' requirements, e.g. DHEC, DEA, SC BOP, etc
- Processes prescriptions or drug orders accurately for final check by pharmacist when in a staffing setting.
- Help maintains cleanliness of drug storage areas and workspaces
- Assists pharmacists in performing duties described in the SC Pharmacy Practice Act as exclusive to individuals possessing SC Pharmacy Intern registrations.
- Other duties as assigned by department management or individual supervisor
- Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position.
- Must be able to withstand many long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting.
- Must be able to respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Must be able to work as a team member with peers, staff, and members of other disciplines as it relates to infants, toddlers, school age children, adolescents, early adults, middle adults, and late adults.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and other healthcare team members.
