Role Summary: A newly created Inventory & Procurement Specialist position owns inventory accuracy, visibility, and ensures availability across multiple physical sites for Honey Smoked Fish. The role supports purchasing-related activities, including issuing day-to-day purchase orders, monitoring inventory levels and counts, working with production to ensure availability, and hunting for cost savings opportunities. The position requires a high degree of professionalism, outstanding communication skills (both written and oral with internal / external parties), strong analytical ability, high attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Responsibilities:
  • Manage raw materials, packaging, and finished good inventory levels at local facilities to support order fulfillment and production planning.
  • Manage finished good inventory levels and recommendations for reordering at several third party warehouse locations.  
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend re-ordering points for retailer customer promotions at where data is available /promotions upcoming.
  • Assist the Procurement Manager in MRP planning activities including analyzing demand forecasts vs. production plans to set optimal inventory targets by SKU.
  • Assist with inventory reconciliation and cycle counts on a monthly basis.
  • Help identify slow-moving, excess, and at-risk inventory.
  • Originates and sends POs from the ERP system for inventory raw materials.
  • Assist with purchasing and procurement activities, including tracking purchase orders and following up with vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Help track yields, shrink, and waste by process step; surface improvement opportunities.
  • Frequent communication with the operations team regarding inventory availability, shortages, and discrepancies.
  • Serve as backup for customer service related activities including order entry (both manual and EDI) into our ERP system.
  • Confirm POs from various customer sources including phone orders, email orders, fax orders, and EDI transactions.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of related inventory management experience, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent internal/external customer service skills.
  • Desire to help to automate, streamline and document processes.
  • Ability to problem solve and offer solutions to various internal/external stakeholders.  
  • Team player with appetite for contributing to the growth of the company.
  • Ability to work independently, accepting ownership for assigned responsibilities.
