Position Overview
We are seeking a Security Intern to join our security team. This position offers hands-on experience in healthcare security, risk assessment frameworks, including HIPAA. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to learn about cybersecurity in the healthcare sector.
Overview
- Assist with security audits and compliance assessments, ensuring adherence to HIPAA and other regulations.
- Support vulnerability management by researching emerging cybersecurity threats and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams on infrastructure benchmarking and performance analysis.
- Help document security policies and procedures, ensuring clear guidelines for healthcare data protection.
- Monitor security logs and incident reports, escalating potential threats to the appropriate teams.
- Participate in training sessions on data security, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, SOC 2 Type 2) and compliance requirements such as HIPAA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools for risk assessment and infrastructure monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for cybersecurity, compliance, and healthcare security.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and investigate security incidents escalated to the NOC
- Investigate risky sign-ins from users via EntraID
- Respond and assist in threat remediation and investigation
- Assist with project documentation and presentation
- Assist with phishing campaigns
- Other Tier 1 security functions. (Email monitoring, threat hunting, vulnerability analysis, etc.)
