Job Description
You will be the engine behind LemFi's legal and compliance support in Europe and Africa. Your primary focus will be providing expert legal guidance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting international transactions and contracts.
You won't just review contracts; you will help structure cross-border deals, advise on privacy and FinTech regulations, and mitigate legal risks, ensuring the company operates confidently across multiple jurisdictions.
How You'll Contribute
Provide Legal Advisory: Offer expert guidance on FinTech operations, privacy regulations, and corporate matters, supporting internal stakeholders in decision-making.
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and implement compliance with local laws across African countries, GDPR, and other international privacy regulations.
Manage Privacy & Data Protection: Advise on data protection policies, consent mechanisms, and cross-border data transfers to maintain compliance and protect users.
Draft & Review Contracts: Prepare, review, and negotiate partnership agreements, vendor contracts, and customer agreements with attention to local legal requirements.
Support International Transactions: Assist in structuring and executing cross-border deals, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, considering legal and regulatory implications.
Identify & Mitigate Risks: Provide risk assessments and mitigation strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to reduce exposure.
Manage Disputes: Oversee litigation, external counsel coordination, and dispute resolution, ensuring the company's interests are protected.

What You'll Bring
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from a reputable institution.
Minimum 2 years of legal experience, ideally in the FinTech industry, with exposure to African legal landscapes.
Strong knowledge of Privacy laws, including GDPR and other international data protection regulations.
Proven experience working with international corporations, particularly in contracts and cross-border transactions.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with occasional travel as required.
