Position Overview
We are looking for a talented Landscape Designer to join our team. This role combines creative design, technical precision, in-depth research, and team collaboration. It is also a fast-paced position, especially during peak seasons. You'll spend long hours at a desk developing drawings and proposals, as well as working in the field assisting with site visits, installations, and nursery support. You will also present design concepts to customers, either in person or online.
What you'll do:
- Partner with clients, manage budgets, and meet deadlines: Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, present design concepts, manage project budgets, and ensure timely completion.
- Collaborate with project managers and crews: Work closely with project managers and installation crews from the initial concept phase through to project completion.
- Contribute to sales and production goals: Actively participate in achieving sales and production targets while maintaining the integrity of design principles.
- Design innovative landscapes: Create functional and aesthetically pleasing landscape designs using 2D and 3D renderings for diverse projects.
- Conduct site analyses and produce construction drawings: Analyze site conditions, including grading and existing structures, to create detailed construction plans with an understanding of drainage solutions.
- Oversee seasonal color displays and hardscape installations: Design and manage the installation of seasonal plant displays and various hardscape elements like patios, walkways, and retaining walls.
- Assist nursery operations and contribute to sales goals: Support nursery activities, including moving and caring for plants, and contribute to overall sales and production targets.
Requirements
- 3+ years landscape design experience: A minimum of three years of professional experience in landscape design.
- Horticulture or Construction experience preferred
- Organizational and budget management skills: Strong organizational abilities to manage multiple deadlines and experience in aligning designs with financial goals and preparing cost estimates.
- CAD software proficiency: Experience with CAD or other 2D design software, with a willingness to learn and utilize Realtime Landscaping Architect CAD and other digital applications.
- Strong plant, nursery, and hardscape knowledge: In-depth understanding of native plant materials, nursery operations, and various hardscape construction methods.
- Excellent communication and client presentation skills: Ability to effectively communicate design concepts, provide updates, and present proposals to clients in person and online.
- Ability to balance desk work with physical field tasks: Willingness to spend significant time at a desk for design work, as well as perform physical tasks in the field, such as site visits and assisting with installations. Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per day and lift 75 pounds.
