About the role

As anAssembly Technician IIIat Micromeritics, you will play a key role in the Final Product Assembly department, supporting the production of high-precision scientific instruments. This senior-level position is responsible for full-cycle instrument assembly, calibration, and testing, while also serving as a technical resource and mentor within the team. You’ll work independently on complex builds and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the department.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Assembly Leadership: Act as the lead assembler in your work area, organizing tasks, troubleshooting issues, and guiding less experienced technicians.
  • Instrument Build & Calibration: Assemble complete instruments including accessories, perform parts testing, and conduct final calibrations using schematics, BOMs, and internal standards.
  • Work Area Management: Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area in alignment with 5S, EHS, and quality policies.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide recommendations to engineering on assembly methods and documentation; complete non-conformance reports and suggest improvements.
  • Training & Mentorship: Coach junior technicians on workmanship standards, time-saving techniques, and proper assembly practices.
  • Inventory & Equipment Oversight: Ensure test equipment is calibrated and available; manage inventory for your work area.
  • Quality & Documentation: Participate in daily team meetings, quality programs, and continuous improvement initiatives; accurately log labor hours and move finished products to stock.
  • Precision Measurement: Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision tools to verify part tolerances and ensure product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an assembly technician, with deep knowledge of multiple instruments and their mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Ability to independently build and calibrate complex instruments from start to finish.
  • Strong understanding of company assembly instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, testing, and mentoring others in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation and continuous improvement practices.
