Lead Cook, eldercare

We are hiring a full-time Lead Cook to provide healthy, homemade meals for Franciscan sisters at our Chicago convent home/eldercare facility, located on the north side, near the neighborhoods of Lincolnwood and North Park (60659). The LeadCook will work a templated schedule that includes shifts on days  (6:30 am- 3:00 pm) and afternoons (10:30 am- 7:00 pm), and a weekend rotation

• The hourly range for this position is $21.50 - $27.50. Wage will be determined based on factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience/qualifications, and internal equity.

General Summary:

The Lead Cook works closely with the Dining Supervisor to ensure that the daily operations are functioning at an optimal level within an elder care environment in a convent home.  This position is responsible for cooking and providing healthy, nutritious, and attractive meals for residents in a safe working environment. 

During Dining Supervisor vacations or extended absences, this position will serve in place of the Dining Supervisor.  This position assists management with the ordering of food and supplies. Verifies invoices for the purchasing of food, supplies, and equipment, and submits invoices to management.  Assists the Dining Supervisor with the training of new staff.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years of food service or restaurant experience (working in a commercial or institutional food service environment is a PLUS).
• Experience in an Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, hospital, or other healthcare environment is preferred but not required. SERV Safe certification preferred.
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
