Job Description

Essential Tasks

  • The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
  • Provide general direction and guidance to drop-off center attendants when a Supervisor is not present.
  • Establish the variable work schedules for drop-off center attendants.
  • Monitor and ensure that the drop-off centers have adequate equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure safe working environment and provide safety instruction to drop-off center attendants.
  • Maintain the citizens' vehicle identification program for the drop-off center; provides instruction and training to other employees on the use of the vehicle identification program.
  • Opens and closes drop-off site to ensure timely service is provided.
  • Provides direction for other drop-off center attendants in the absence of their supervisor
  • Monitors and screens all waste and recyclable materials delivered by residents to County drop-off sites.
  • Directs traffic at drop-off sites.
  • Directs the public in placing materials in proper containers; determines if waste is acceptable.
  • Monitors containers to ensure adequate space for continued disposal and calls in collection requests as needed; coordinates collection with contractors.
  • Maintains drop-off site in a clean, orderly manner; picks up trash and debris as necessary;
  • Operates a backhoe to compact waste in containers.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of daily activities.
  • Answers the telephone; provides information and /or assistance to callers.
  • Cleans and maintains assigned equipment and tools.
  • Performs routine safety inspections of the facility and equipment on site.
  • Provides training and leadership of workers as assigned.
  • Assists with other Solid Waste Department functions as assigned.
  • Provides general direction and guidance to drop-off center attendants based on communication with the supervisor or do so when the supervisor is not available..
  • Establish the variable work schedules for drop-off center attendants.
  • Monitor and ensure that the drop-off centers have adequate equipment and supplies
  • Maintain the citizens' vehicle identification tracking program for the drop-off center and ensure that other attendants are properly using the identification system
  • Performs all duties in accordance with all County policies and procedures, standards of quality and safety, and all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Receives and responds to requests for information and assistance and to complaints from customers.

Compensation Range: $20.66 - $33.03
