We are looking for innovative systems design engineers to bring Gas Power products from conceptual design to new product introduction.The Lead Engineer - Advanced Plant Systems Design role will create, design and analyze the next generation of competitive Gas Power products working closely with Product Management to define competitive product requirements, design product concepts, and transition the results into New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. The Advanced Plant Systems Design team is responsible for advanced plant level systems pre-NPI conceptual design including gas turbine and accessories, steam turbine, HRSG, generator and traditional plant systems. The team works closely with subject matter experts across the engineering organization to develop and deploy advanced system modeling to relentlessly build new product cost and performance modeling capabilities to deliver high quality product concept assessments. Essential Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing and stakeholders to define and create competitive gas turbine and plant solutions for future investment. Demonstrate a high “say-do” ratio and perform on-time and technically excellent product concept trade studies and competitor assessments. Review personal work with peers and Controlled Title Holder community and proactively address concerns and retire risks.
- Drive consistent “apples-to-apples” assumptions and technical comparisons across product options to clearly show technology impact and investment opportunity.
- Identify, analyze, and model competitive product offerings to understand market position, such as performance cycles, cost, and technologies.
- Develop gas turbine and plant conceptual design product cost, performance and methods with emphasis to deploy Adaptive Intelligence methods for robust solutions and design productivity. As needed, deploy Nx or other tools to advance product system design.
- Create product innovation through the identification and adoption of the latest technology. File Invention Disclosure Letters and create Intellectual Property for high value Gas Power technology.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum 5 years relevant gas turbine or plant systems technical product design and development experienceHands-on expertise using complex engineering design or optimization tools and processes.
- Authorization for access to US export-controlled information.
Desired Characteristics
- Excellent background and hands-on expertise using today’s engineering design or optimization tools for gas turbines, accessory systems, steam systems or plant systems.
- Excellent background in systems modeling methods and complex design space optimization analysis.
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally to define product requirements, creating, executing and managing programs.
- Excellent background in one or more relevant fundamental sciences such as fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, aerodynamics, combustion, thermodynamics, heat transfer.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
