Job Description Summary:

The Lead Physical Therapist supports the physical therapy team, leveraging their clinical expertise to manage daily operations. This includes coordinating patient care, prioritizing patient needs, overseeing staffing, and promoting professional development. As a leader, the Lead PT collaborates closely with patients, families, staff, and other healthcare providers to enhance patient care. They ensure compliance with standards and regulations, demonstrate leadership in performance improvement, and maintain clinical proficiency. Additionally, the Lead PT provides treatment for musculoskeletal, skin, and neurological conditions using a variety of modalities, conducts evaluations, develops and modifies treatment plans, and offers consultative services. They also foster professional growth and serve as a role model and clinical resource.

Pay Range:

$57.04 - $71.295 - $85.55

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

I. Collaboration

  • Collaborates with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to plan and support patient care.
  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to impact care outcomes.
  • Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team to support patient care.
  • Ensures resource allocation meets patient demand.
  • Coordinates relevant information to support clinical operations.
  • Participates in team and department initiatives for practice advancement and patient-centered care.
  • Leads as a role model within the team.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for the physical therapy team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Rehabilitation leadership team to increase quality of care, staff satisfaction, financial strength and program development

III. Resource Utilization

  • Acts as a clinical and operational leader to manage clinical operations effectively.
  • Incorporates standards of practice to optimize clinical effectiveness.
  • Ensures resources support patient care needs.
  • Identifies opportunities for integrating new technology to advance practice.

IV. Evidence-Based Practice

  • Implements organizational improvement activities using data to assess improvement.
  • Incorporates best available evidence to optimize patient care.
  • Serves as a role model and clinical resource for evidence-based practice.

V. Education

  • Maintains advanced clinical knowledge and supports professional development for self, staff, and students.
  • Serves as a clinical instructor and supports orientation for new employees.
  • Evaluates clinical competencies and ensures completion across the department.
  • Participates in scholarly/clinical education opportunities regularly.

VI. Additional Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patients on referral using various tests to determine impairment and treatment plans.
  • Develop treatment plans based on evaluations and patient goals.
  • Administer safe patient care, utilizing physical therapy techniques.
  • Provide instruction to patients, families, and caregivers regarding self-care and home programs.
  • Act as a consultant to physicians and healthcare workers regarding treatment programs and adaptive equipment.
  • Suggest and introduce new methods and techniques within authorization.
  • Stay updated with current trends and developments in the field of Physical Therapy.
  • Share in non-professional departmental activities such as scheduling and equipment maintenance.
  • Act as Senior Therapist in the absence of the Manager.
  • Provide supervision and review work done by assistants, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy curriculum that is approved by the American Physical Therapy Association

License/Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Physical Therapist- Physical Therapy Board of California

Experience:

  • 3+ years as a licensed Physical Therapist in an ambulatory setting or equivalent preferred.
