Job Description

Venture Global LNG ("Venture Global") is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company's two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global's modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

The Lead Production Measurement Specialist ensures Venture Global's measurement systems operate with maximum accuracy, consistency, and accountability. The role focuses on identifying and mitigating measurement LAUF across pipelines and plants operations to safeguard custody transfer accuracy and commercial integrity.

This position supports both field and corporate teams by conducting detailed balance analyses (LAUF), investigating discrepancies, and driving continuous improvement in data quality and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Measurement Balance and Loss Control

  • Perform detailed daily, weekly, and monthly mass and energy balance analyses for all measurement systems and work closely with production engineers on the pipeline and plant MEB.
  • Track, quantify, lead investigations and report losses and unaccounted-for gas and liquid (LAUF) across all Venture Global's sites.
  • Develop and refine loss-tracking tools, dashboards, and performance reports.
  • Identify trends, abnormalities, and recurring variances, and recommend actions to reduce systemic loss.
  • Work closely with Production Excellence and Site Operations to reconcile production, rundown, and custody transfer data.
  • Define and maintain acceptable tolerance thresholds based on API MPMS and VG internal standards.

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action

  • Lead root-cause investigations of significant or recurring volume and energy imbalances.
  • Analyze field data, meter diagnostics, and control system trends to identify sources of error.
  • Review calibration, transmitter data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Document findings and develop corrective action plans with clear ownership and timelines.
  • Verify implementation and long-term effectiveness of corrective actions.

Data Validation and Reconciliation

  • Validate flow computer configurations (Flow-X, etc.) and historian (PI) data for completeness and integrity.
  • Compare and reconcile measured volumes between field data, accounting systems, and process control networks.
  • Review meter factors, calibration reports, and correction coefficients to ensure traceability and consistency.
  • Support automated reconciliation and digital data validation initiatives to improve reporting accuracy.

Standards, Procedures, and Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce compliance with API, AGA, GPA, ASTM, ISO, and FERC measurement requirements.
  • Update and manage VG's internal measurement loss and control procedures.
  • Support internal and external measurement audits by providing complete documentation, data records, and variance justifications.
  • Promote consistency in measurement practices across all sites through collaboration and procedural alignment.

Instrumentation and Field Technical Support

  • Support site teams with troubleshooting of custody and process meters (ultrasonic, Coriolis exc.).
  • Evaluate flow conditioning, thermowell placement, and installation effects on meter performance.
  • Assist in the verification and validation of field data during startup or meter replacement.
  • Collaborate with reliability and maintenance teams to identify instrumentation that may contribute to recurring loss or imbalance.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement

  • Produce monthly measurement loss and control reports summarizing site performance, key findings, and recommended improvements.
  • Develop KPIs to track progress on LAUF reduction, reconciliation accuracy, and corrective action closure.
  • Partner with Production Excellence and Data Analytics to automate dashboards and visualize trends.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance system accuracy, data quality, and measurement reliability through technology or procedural improvements.

Training and Knowledge Transfer

  • Deliver targeted training for measurement personnel and operators on loss control procedures and data integrity practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians on reconciliation, diagnostics, and investigation methods.
  • Document and share lessons learned, ensuring knowledge retention across sites and teams.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in gas or LNG measurement, pipeline operations, or custody transfer systems.
  • Working knowledge of API MPMS, AGA, and GPA standards.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with flow computers (Flow-X preferred), SCADA, and historian systems (OSI PI).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and reconciliation tools; SQL or Python a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills with the ability to present complex findings clearly.
