Job Description

The LADC provides directive service to outpatient programs for substance abuse disorders. They are responsible for the assessment, evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning of all patients assigned to their caseload in accordance with the regulatory policies. They manage a full individual caseload by orienting clients to treatment and developing individual treatment, intervention, and recovery plans collaboratively with mental health staff. Other job duties may include performing chemical dependency evaluations for clients and making the appropriate referrals and recommendations.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (starting and end time hours are flexible).

What you will be doing:

  • Assesses patient circumstances and alcohol use, both current and past, by completing a comprehensive, recovery-oriented bio-psycho-social evaluation by collecting data which enables identification of potential therapeutic targets for active treatment in collaboration with the clients.
  • Provides consultation on an ad hoc basis in the Primary Care clinic for patients presenting with AUD.
  • Develops initial and updated solution-focused treatment plans in collaboration with clients and treatment teams as treatment needs to change.
  • Updates plan according to regulations and internal policies and procedures dictate.
  • The care plan identifies effective interventions to achieve outcomes, patient motivation, health spiritual beliefs, and functional capabilities and strengths.
  • The care plan reflects a plan for discharge and continuum of services to be provided/referred to.
  • Meets with and provides counseling to patients, families, and significant others according to the care plan goals.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and billing expectations in the allotted expected timeframe.
  • Maintains productivity expectations set by the practice leadership.
  • Implements interventions that are consistent with services plans, developmental levels and needs of client to elicit therapeutic change.
  • Expected treatment outcomes are patient oriented, evidence based, therapeutically sound, realistic, attainable, and measurable.
  • Demonstrates reflective/active listening, feedback, summarizing, reframing, empathy, support, problem solving, coaching and psycho-education skills.
  • Maintains and abides by ethical standards set forth by the facility and Maine State Licensing

Are you qualified for the role?

  • You hold an active Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) license from the State of Maine.
  • You have years' experience as a licensed clinician which is required.
  • You have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • You have or will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
