Job Description:

This position is highly technical with the ability to troubleshoot pumps and control systems, properly align pumps, motors, and all rotating equipment with laser alignment indicators. Ensure all tolerances meet all manufacturers specifications. Be able to read drawings, diagrams, and service manuals. Train apprentice on correct rebuild of rotating equipment.

Job Duties:

60%- Reads diagrams, drawing, and service manuals to determine work procedures. Rebuild of pumps, fit bearings, proper alignment procedures to precise tolerances. Test equipment and make necessary adjustments. Repair or replace defective parts, including all rotating equipment.

30%- Troubleshoots electrical and control problems. Preform preventative maintenance on all rotating equipment. Fabricate/machine parts as needed. Document alignments of equipment. Installation of new equipment controls as required.

10%- Document work and materials into work order system. Train apprentice millwrights. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

Three years of experience or training in the machinist trade; OR

Completion of the Industrial Machine Shop program at a State technical institute or equivalent program plus one year of experience in the machinist trade.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

  • This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
  • This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
  • This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, squat, kneel and bend their back. This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.
