Job Summary

Cerrowire is seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Manager to join our team in Hartselle, Alabama!

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a talented maintenance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The Maintenance Manager will oversee all plant maintenance operations-including preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, equipment reliability, and facilities management-to ensure safe and efficient production across the facility.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and a proven track record of driving equipment uptime, reliability, and team development. This role is key to supporting Cerrowire's commitment to operational excellence and creating a safe, high-performing manufacturing environment.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline is required; Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is Preferred, or 7+ years documented experience improving machinery and assembly processes, equipment, fixturing and tooling.
  • Leadership & Communication: Ability to effectively manage, mentor, and communicate with teams, other departments, and plant leadership. Ability to Develop both Teams and Individuals toward a High-Performance Environment. Ability to develop and implement Maintenance strategies that improve key measures.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, hydraulic, and pneumatics systems, with practical experience in maintenance and repair.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues. Understanding of root cause corrective measures and root cause analysis tools.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Budget Management: Experience in developing and managing capital and departmental budgets.
  • Safety & Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA, Environmental, and other industry-specific safety and health regulations.
  • Software: Proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g. word, Excel, email, presentations and spreadsheets
  • Lean: Knowledge and understanding of lean principles such as 5S, SMED, TPM, etc

Major Responsibility Areas and Duties

  • Responsible for the maintenance of all plant equipment with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance
  • Ensures that a formal preventative maintenance program is followed, tracked and modified when new equipment is added to the facility or with recurring problems on equipment
  • Responsible for the maintenance of building and grounds
  • Plans, develops, sets and meets timelines for projects and regular maintenance issues
  • Manages maintenance team members
  • Ensures maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped and motivated to ensure that work is accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Mentors and develops team members to facilitate growth within the company
  • Purchases and manages the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment
  • Maintains a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment
  • Responsible for new equipment installation while assisting with selection and design
  • Maintains fire protection system
  • Maintains records of day-to-day maintenance and services undertaken in the facility
  • Recommends equipment modifications, repairs or replacement
  • Ensures OSHA regulations are met while creating a safe work environment including plant, grounds and equipment
  • Manages all hazardous and non hazardous waste collection and disposal.
  • Responsible for management of forklift maintenance and repairs
  • Responsible for coordinating and correcting issues found during FM Global insurance Inspections
  • Keeps lockout/tagout procedures and documentation current on all equipment
  • Maintains high housekeeping standards
  • Handles cost negotiations on maintenance inventory items, negotiates lead times and delivery terms
  • Initiates and carries out projects to improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs
  • Collaborates with other departments in establishing priorities
  • Conducts employee performance appraisals to determine competency, knowledge and individual contributions of the maintenance technicians
  • Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department
  • Responsible for start up and shut down operations within the facility
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

  • Could be asked to provide physical activity including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50lbs), and walking
  • Must be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Frequently communicates with employees and others related to financial/accounting issues at Cerro Wire and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
