Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee and continuously improve the upkeep, performance, and reliability of plant equipment, systems, and facilities at a leading manufacturing operation in Conover, North Carolina. This individual will lead a team of supervisors and technicians, ensuring all maintenance activities align with safety standards, operational goals, and company policies. A strong emphasis will be placed on asset management, preventive maintenance, and reliability optimization to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance supervisors and technicians to ensure team alignment and performance.

  • Create and maintain asset management strategies, leveraging CMMS or similar systems to track, audit, and optimize asset performance.

  • Manage repair, replacement, and equipment upgrade projects through the capital expenditure process.

  • Lead root cause analyses for equipment defects and failures, driving sustainable corrective actions.

  • Plan and coordinate internal and external maintenance projects or outages, ensuring safe, on-time, and on-budget completion.

  • Establish maintenance direction, priorities, and strategies to extend asset life cycles and support long-term CapEx planning.

  • Monitor department budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and collaborate with accounting on financial planning.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with production and operations teams to support manufacturing goals and resolve operational challenges.

  • Analyze maintenance and performance data to identify trends, risks, and continuous improvement opportunities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).

  • Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in production, maintenance management, or related operations.

  • Strong proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and maintenance reliability programs.

  • Six Sigma training or demonstrated experience with process improvement initiatives preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.

  • Strong technical understanding of equipment life cycles, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance.

  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CMMS platforms.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Work performed in both office and manufacturing settings.

  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards.

  • Moderate noise levels; use of PPE required (safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, etc.).

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

  • May require more than 40 hours per week to meet operational needs.

  • Standard use of office equipment (computer, phone, printer/scanner, etc.).
