Description

The Maintenance Technician is an entry to senior-level position (compensation & level of position will be based on education & experience). This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

  • Level I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with the inspection, upkeep, and basic repair of equipment, facilities, and systems. This role ensures that operations run smoothly and safely by providing hands-on support to more experienced technicians and responding to routine maintenance requests.
  • Level II is a mid-level position responsible for executing more advanced repairs, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems, and supporting preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. This technician works with minimal supervision, mentors' junior staff, and plays a critical role in facility operations and equipment reliability.
  • Level III is a senior-level position responsible for leading complex technical tasks, diagnosing and resolving advanced equipment malfunctions, and overseeing maintenance operations. This individual plays a vital role in maintaining equipment reliability, mentoring junior staff, and optimizing facility performance through expert-level troubleshooting and technical knowledge.

Key Job Responsibilities

Level I:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing filters, and tightening fixtures.
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and low-voltage electronics systems.
  • Conduct basic repairs under guidance.
  • Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Document all maintenance activity in CMMS systems and contribute to historical logs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas including tools and equipment.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs and log activities properly.
  • Escort and assist contractors or vendors as needed.
  • Monitor and report maintenance needs to supervisors.
  • Follow safety protocols and report potential hazards.

Level II:

  • Diagnose and repair emergent mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and controls issues on production equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and document service activities.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors for specialized equipment servicing.
  • Install, test, and maintain equipment, machinery, fixtures, and systems.
  • Document all maintenance activity in CMMS systems and contribute to historical logs.
  • Monitor system performance and make proactive recommendations to improve efficiency.
  • Train and support Maintenance Technician Level 1 staff.
  • Interpret technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Respond to priority work orders and emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist with inventory control for tools, parts, and supplies.

Level III:

  • Lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and infrastructure systems.
  • Execute and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot high-level mechanical, electrical, and control systems with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret and utilize technical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and manuals to conduct advanced diagnostics.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and Safety teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Train and supervise Maintenance Techs Levels 1 and 2; delegate tasks and verify quality of work.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized services and major repairs.
  • Document all maintenance activity in CMMS systems and contribute to historical logs.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions to reduce downtime.
  • Participate in capital improvement projects, machinery upgrades, and facility expansions.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills to manage work orders and maintenance logs.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks (climbing ladders, standing, bending, reaching and performing other physical labor).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical, trade school or vocational certification in electrical and/or mechatronics systems.
  • Some experience in facility/industrial maintenance or related field.
  • Proficient in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, hydraulic and low-voltage controls electronics systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and instrumentation.
  • Skilled in diagnostic tools (multimeters, pressure gauges, power tools, thermal cameras, vibration analysis equipment).
  • Excellent leadership, mentorship, communication & team collaboration skills.
  • Strong familiarity with CMMS platforms and maintenance reporting tools.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor and outdoor work environments.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, noise, or weather depending on task.
  • May require flexible shifts, including weekends or emergency callouts.
