Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing, organizing, planning, leading, and directing clinical and management activities for the designated department(s), which may include procedure services, infusion therapy and/or other hospital outpatient clinical services in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Accountable for daily operations and oversight of nursing practice and patient care delivery. Participates as a member of the health care team in maintaining continuity and quality of patient care. Contributes to organizational operations and supports the mission by fostering interdepartmental communication/collaboration. Demonstrates a high level of ability in leadership, supervisory skills, problem solving, patient advocacy and public relations. 

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Manages and evaluates the hospital clinical operations, programs and resources of the assigned clinical areas to assure the safe and appropriate delivery of care. Ensures that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in compliance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements. Participates in the development of and implements new clinical systems/programs to enhance existing services and raise the standard of care for the patient population served. Oversees the resolution of daily clinical administrative and operational issues. Ensures all aspects of clinical operations are conducted and documented in compliance with relevant internal policies, standards/procedures, and applicable regulatory and accrediting body requirements. Participates in annual budget process, reviews revenues and expenses, completes Departmental Operating Reports (DOR) monthly. Participates, as a key member of the management team for the assigned clinical function, in the development of strategies, initiatives and programs addressing matters such as: provision of new services or programs, standardization of procedures across the organization, maximizing resources, improving cost-effectiveness of clinical services provided, enhancing patient outcomes/satisfaction and other issues of similar complexity and consequence. Participates in Administrator on Call (AOC) after hours call duties. Performs related duties as required.

Organizational Responsibilities:

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to support the Summit Pacific Medical Center mission, vision and values; comply with SPMC policies and procedures; and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner at all times.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN or Bachelors' Degree in a related field is required. 
  • Three years’ experience and clinical knowledge in the same or similar clinical specialty. 
  • One year in a nursing leadership or equivalent position required. 

Required licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Board of Nursing.  Certification in specialty area preferred.  Current healthcare provider BLS and ACLS certifications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Strong organizational skills: ability to prioritize, and reprioritize, work as needed to meet objectives.Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience. Grammar and punctuation skills as needed to compose professional documents.Proficient in the use of current technology and software, including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook). Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Ability to develop and maintain accurate documentation and records.Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain composure and interact calmly and professionally with co-workers, providers, patients and visitors in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.Ability to work independently using good judgment, problem-solving, organization, and prioritization skills to complete assignments in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.
