Job Description
Manual Machinist / Manual Lathe OperatorLocation: Mayfield, KYShift: Weekend (Friday-Sunday 6am - 6pm)Weekend shifts (36 hours worked, paid for 40 hours)Pay: $19-25 per hour based on experience with $1 shift differential Fulltime, Benefits, and Weekly PayJob PurposeA Machinist is responsible for a variety of machine‐specific functions—from setting‐up equipment, loading materials and operating machinery, to monitoring and optimizing efficiency, maintaining machines and performing quality checks. A machinist will typically have the knowledge and ability to operate and maintain several machines. Our positions are full-time, year-round employment with paid training. We offer:

- Operates various machines as part of the production process to produce parts for the locomotive industry in accordance with AAR, customer specifications, company guidelines and checklists. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with PR safety policies.
- Operate manual machines including horizontal mills, engine lathes, and manual grinders to produce locomotive motor parts and axles.
- Use precision gauges and instruments such as micrometers to determine and follow customers specifications.
- Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes.
- Adjusting and reprogramming controls, sharpening and replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities within time standards allowed.
- Maintain specifications by observing, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls.
- Sharpening and replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Troubleshoot and repair various machines.
- Possess expertise and/or certification in Advanced Welding Techniques.
- Hold Certification in Non‐Destructive Testing.
- Possess high level of machining Aptitude.
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
