Position Overview:
As a Manufacturing Engineer for New Product Introduction in welding, you will apply your expertise in welding processes and manufacturing engineering to support the successful launch of new welded products. You will collaborate closely with product design, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to influence manufacturability, tooling, automation strategies, and production readiness. Your work will shape the methods, equipment, and standards used to produce high-quality welded assemblies, while ensuring safety, cost, delivery, and quality objectives are met. This role offers an opportunity to impact welded product development at scale and strengthen manufacturing capabilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply expert knowledge of welding processes, procedures, equipment, and evaluation methods to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Develop, implement, and optimize manual and automated welding processes, including equipment specification and recommendations for new product introductions.
- Define, review, and procure manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment in partnership with tool designers and suppliers.
- Analyze manufacturing methods, process flow, equipment utilization, and material flow to improve efficiency, productivity, safety, quality, and cost.
- Establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes using engineering principles, data analysis, and best practices.
- Develop and qualify welding specifications, standards, and guidelines to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support DFM activities including reviews of GD&T, tolerances, datum structures, and measurement strategies to improve manufacturability and product quality.
- Advocate for platforming, commonality, automation, and adherence to manufacturing best practices.
- Support supplier runoffs, factory acceptance testing, and commissioning to ensure assets are production-ready.
- Develop capital equipment studies, support capital expenditure decisions, and assist with budget planning.
- Evaluate manufacturing costs including make-versus-buy considerations, standard cost models, and cost-reduction opportunities.
- Partner with production, engineering, quality, SIOP, suppliers, and leadership to support delivery of high-quality welded products.
- Support development and maintenance of PDP Manufacturing Plans and Process FMEAs.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and processes as needed.

Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Weld Engineering or Weld Technology degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience, including applied welding engineering experience.
- Extensive knowledge of welding processes, including GMAW and resistance spot welding, with experience in automation and process flow.
- Proficiency with CAD software and MS Office tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, mechanical, and project-management skills.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to a fast-paced production setting and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Flexibility to travel up to 25%.

The starting pay range for Minnesota is $76,000 to $100,000 per year. Individual salaries and positioning within the range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. While individual pay could fall anywhere in the range based on these factors, it is not common to start at the high end or top of the range.
To qualify for this position, former employees must be eligible for rehire, and current employees must be in good standing.
