Job Description
IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 122-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced candidate who is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position is based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio and plays a key role throughout our product lifecycle through design, supply, manufacture, and customer application for both manufactured products and aftermarket services.OVERVIEW: With a primary focus on winding responsibilities, the Manufacturing Technician/Winder performs an array of general production functions in the manufacture of Ideal products, including but not limited to, coil winding, assembly, press operation, and spot welding. This full-time role is based in Mansfield, Ohio, working closely with and reporting to, the (Winding) Production Supervisor.IDEAL ELECTRIC CONFORMANCE STATEMENT
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:

- Work from instructions, shop orders, drawings, charts, diagrams, specifications, schematics, and bills of materials
- Insulate, cold press, and/or heat coils as required, wind and connect stators, armatures, and rotors
- Install collectors or commutators, making proper connections
- May be required to install equalizers, wire or bar wound
- Install heat detectors and repair faulty heat detectors as required
- Remove coils and connections from wound stators
- Interpret specifications and diagrams, inspect and clean slots, properly block and tape coil ends
- Tin, solder, braze, clip, crimp, and assemble connections according to Engineering diagrams
- Clean, form, plate and install bus bar and terminals
- Install lead cleats, and drill and tap as necessary
- Test for continuity, shorts, grounds, resistance, drop, surge, and hi-pot
- May repair torn, broken, or cracked insulation on leads or coils
- Assemble platforms for connecting
- Obtaining parts and supplies necessary for the work being performed
- Ability to operate soldering equipment, hand torch, ovens, induction heating equipment, bus bar formers, pedestal grinder, belt sander, cold presses, precision gages and measuring equipment, portable power tools, jigs, fixtures, jacks, marking machine, powered hoist, electrical testing equipment and hand tools, power press, hand and power shears, glass bead machine, and band saw
- High School Diploma or certified equivalent
- Minimum two years of experience working in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to read and understand prints, use logic, and troubleshoot problems
- Teamwork approach with excellent communication skills
- Experience operating various manufacturing equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes is helpful
- Experience with large motors, generators, and rotating equipment is helpful
- Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum. Overtime as required, subject to production schedules and may vary based upon specific department and customer needs.

- must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding to heights of 20 feet with regularity
- must be able to exhibit specific vision abilities required by this job which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- obtain and maintain a valid passport and US-issued driver's license
