The Marina Manager is responsible for the management of all marina operations and to ensure clean, safe and dependable marina facilities. Oversees all day-to-day activities involved within the marina departments including sales transactions, cash handling, fueling procedures, boat rentals, and load-out procedures.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS: Observe buoy fields daily and move buoys as necessary; Ability to visually recognize hazards, proper buoy locations, safety and repair issues. Attend inspections of all equipment and operations. Inspect all boats in the marina and pump out boat bilges when necessary. Ensure that docks are maintained at proper levels. Communicates regular updates and appraisals of problems and potential problems to maintenance and management staff Teach customers proper boating procedures; Learn and communicate hazardous areas to guests. Evaluate and respond to emergency situations, determine and take the proper action(s) necessary, including the performance of cold-water rescues. Abide by and enforce company Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs' policies and procedures. other duties as assigned.

MANAGERIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS Train, schedule, discipline, directly supervise and delegate work to Assistant Marina Manager and Marina Attendants. Ensures that the marina staff properly follows boat inspection, boat rental, cash handling, and opening and closing procedures. Complete detailed, honest mid-season and end of the season performance evaluations for staff. Review department timesheets for accuracy and submit in a timely manner. Conduct all on the job training of marina staff in the operation of all equipment (cash registers, gas pumps, , boats/canoes, etc.); Assists with Safety and Environmental Training. Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs and ensures that all policies and procedures are strictly followed.Works extra shifts and hours as required.

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS: Function as the manager in charge and make independent management and operational decisions as necessary. Ensure that the marina and office areas are clean and neat. Provide a high level of customer service throughout the marina operation. Calmly, effectively, politely, and professionally resolve guest problems and complaints. Order supplies needed for normal operations for boat rentals, marina store, fuel dock, and dock maintenance departments according to Green Procurement standards.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES: Valid driver's license with good driving record to drive a company vehicle and pull a trailer. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Read, write and speak English to communicate with employees and guests and to give and follow instructions. Excellent supervisory/management, training, and customer service skills. The ability to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills. Knowledge of safe boating operations and good boating and safety skills. Able to safely drive and dock all vessels in the fleet in all types of weather including very windy and/or stormy conditions. Knowledge of dock construction and anchor placement. Certified in Cold Water Rescue techniques or be able to obtain within one year of hire. CPR/First Aid certification or be able to obtain within one year of hire. Certified as a Hazardous Materials Technician or be able to obtain the certification within two years of hire. Knowledge of the proper use of fuel equipment, chemical cleaners, degreasers, oils, and additives. Ability to learn all company training materials. Able to accurately operate a cash register, POS systems, and credit card machine.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES: Climb stairs and walk on uneven, paved, unpaved, and sometimes slippery surfaces. Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including cold and hot weather up to 8 hours at a time. Balance/stabilize, stand/remain upright and walk on uneven and moving surfaces (marina docks and boats on water) throughout entire shift. Step into and onto boats from docks and back to docks safely and repetitively. Kneel, stoop, squat, bend, twist and turn, reach down/forward/overhead, push, pull, and lift frequently. Twist and turn frequently. Lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES: Two years of work experience in the Marina or Boating Industries Experience with Cold Water Rescue techniques Boating experience preferred; experience with towing trailers preferredTwo years of work experience in guest services or customer services One year of supervisory and management work experience
