Job Description Summary

The Materials Commercial Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of materials from suppliers and within the facility to meet production schedules and customer needs. This role is responsible for planning and scheduling material and production requirements, ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantity.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Materials Planning & Scheduling

  • Manage master planning, material requirements, and related systems to support production schedules.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update production schedules and purchasing needs based on demand, capacity, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate material flow from suppliers and between internal departments to support on-time delivery.

Inventory & Process Optimization

  • Ensure operational alignment with the production plan and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Monitor inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
  • Identify and support process improvements to increase efficiency and material availability.

Issue Resolution & Collaboration

  • Resolve routine material and scheduling issues using established procedures and systems.
  • Escalate and collaborate with supervisors or senior team members on issues outside defined parameters.
  • Partner with Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Logistics to maintain schedule adherence and resolve constraints.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

  • Support supplier management activities, including communication on delivery schedules, shortages, and recovery plans.
  • Build effective working relationships with GE Aerospace fulfillment teams and external suppliers/vendors.

Professional Development & Contribution

  • Apply developing conceptual knowledge of materials, production planning, and supply chain disciplines.
  • Understand how the work of the materials planning team contributes to broader site and business objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in a related field

OR

  • High school diploma / GED with at least 4 year of SAP Materials/Procurement experience OR 4 years of experience in similar materials/planning functions using ERP systems

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey requirements and issues to cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Solid organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute materials and production planning activities and improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to network and collaborate effectively with the external supply network, including GE Aerospace fulfillment teams and external suppliers/vendors.
  • Experience with FLIGHT DECK or an equivalent Lean / efficiency operating model in a manufacturing or procurement environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, using data and standard work to drive decisions.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
