TRUMPF is seeking candidates for a Mechanical Engineering Intern. The Internship will provide a college-level student with practical and professional experience that will enhance and complement their classroom learning. The Mechanical Engineering Intern participates in development of machine tools and machine tools components. This internship will be from January 2026 to May 2026 for at least 32 hours a week.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Mechanical Design Engineers on new product design concepts
Create technical documentation (drawings and BOMs) for assigned parts and units
Ensure that units and parts are designed for efficient series production and assembly
Implement defined requirements for units and parts
Ensure that units and parts are designed according to specifications and cost targets
Support assembly and testing designed units
Optimize designed units according to assembly and test results
Continuous improvement of functionality and reliability of TRUMPF products
Support production and assembly on mechanical design related issues.
Create design changes
Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is required. Strong inter-personal communication skills and ability to work as a team player. Experience and knowledge of 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, preferred but not essential.
Education:
Must be a student enrolled in an accredited university or institution pursuing an undergraduate’s degree in a related field.
All science, research and engineering activities that combine engineering physics and mathematics principles with materials science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.
