Job Description

Primary Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Assist various orthopedic physicians under the direction of Clinical Director
  • Perform phlebotomy services for patients
  • Submit all laboratory specimens following proper guidelines
  • Perform EKG’s
  • Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed
  • Perform general nursing duties
  • Perform suture/staple removal
  • Perform wound care/dressing changes
  • Drawing up meds; calling in medications
  • Application of sterile fields
  • X-ray duties as needed
  • Application and removal of casts and splints
  • Locate any necessary imaging, test results or reports for upcoming appointments
  • Schedule and precert MRI’S, lab work, procedures, and surgeries
  • Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies for clinic, power up computers, etc.
  • Prepare for clinic by printing out patient information as requested by physician
  • Assist with verifying pre-op labs and scheduling surgery clearances as needed
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
  • Obtain physician signature on miscellaneous forms
  • Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires
  • Friendly and Professional patient communication
    • Answering and returning patient phone calls
    • Provide various forms of patient education and handouts
    • Escorting patients to and from exam rooms
    • Appointment/surgery reminder calls
    • Respond to and chart patient messages
    • Communicate test results to patients with direction from physician

Must Also Posses:

  • Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred but willing to train
  • EKG experience is a plus
  • Minimum one-year full time clinical experience in healthcare preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational, verbal and writing skills
  • Independent, self-starting and highly motivated
  • Strong patient care and interpersonal skills
  • Proven positive, “teamwork” attitude and work history

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to use arms, hands and fingers skillfully 
  • Constant standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time
  • Must be agile and able to work efficiently in space limited areas
  • Consistently work at a productive pace 
  • Must readily adapt to frequent treatment schedule changes
