Job Description

The Medical Biller is responsible for preparing, submitting, and following up on claims to insurance companies. Ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, resolving billing issues, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Submit claims to various insurance payers.
  • Follow up regarding denied claims with appropriate insurance payers.
  • Reconcile claims that have been paid to ensure accuracy.
  • Resubmit delayed or denied claims as needed.
  • Review and manage the eligibility process.
  • Submits reauthorizations for services and tracks reauthorizations to avoid disruptions in payment.
  • Work with necessary departments to gather data to ensure accurate billing.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations Submit for re-authorization for services to multiple insurance companies.
  • Foster culture of customer service and commitment to quality care.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Vitra reflecting our vision, mission, and values.
  • Show genuine interest and compassion for the communities we serve and commitment to the diversity of our clients and team members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Licensure Requirements:

  • Second language is strongly preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience billing in a clearinghouse, checking eligibility, authorizations, and managing denials.
  • 2+ years' experience and complete comfort using Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving, customer service, and communication skills required.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce, Optum, Wellsky, RingCentral or similar platforms. 
  • Strong ability to take initiative and confidently directs client interaction.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to multitask, learn new skills and adapt to change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and willingness to work in the field if needed.
  • Ability to withstand varying job pressures, organize/prioritize related job tasks, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Adheres to client confidentiality.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Works in a clean, well-lit environment with fluctuating temperatures in close proximity to others.
  •  Requires substantial periods of repetitive work utilizing a computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Requires lifting and carrying equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds; requires pushing and pulling equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds; requires walking and standing; requires frequent sitting more than 75% of the workday; requires the ability to navigate stairs; requires visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate equipment.
