Job Description

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for various tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and sound judgment. As a Medical Billing Specialist, your daily duties will include maintaining billing software, appealing denied claims, and recording late payments.

Responsibilities

• Process claims to ensure proper billing information and to resolve any discrepancies.
• Review, prepare, and submit claims for electronic billing.
• Timely and accurate billing and follow-up on Medicaid, Medicare, and Primary/Secondary Insurance Payers claims.
• Follow up on all claims through final resolution within a timely manner.
• I will call insurance companies regarding any discrepancies or rejection of payments if necessary.
• Keep current with Medicare and Medicaid regulations and procedures.
• Responsible for all claims collection follow-up by contacting insurance companies, resubmitting claims, and working on aging reports.
• Review account aging regularly and report inconsistencies; correct errors as appropriate.
• Identify billing errors for correction and resubmit via provider review form (appeal) or new submission.
• Answer facility and insurance company inquiries on time.
• Submit all UB04 billing.

 Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience as a medical biller or in a similar role.
• Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.
• Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities.
