Job SummaryUnder general supervision, uses complex healthcare data to conduct quantitative analyses of utilization and cost trends. Determines the root cause of variation in trends over time and produces reports for management that allow actionable steps to be taken on those variations. Individuals are expected to work independently to interpret and analyze data from various clinical and financial departments across the insurance organization. Regularly meet with departments to drive actionable reporting to reduce cost and utilization trends across the healthcare system. Evaluates the clinical and cost impacts of benefit plan designs and suggests changes to improve patient health and plan financial performance.Essential Functions:
- Conduct data analysis to understand trends in healthcare utilization and cost, including areas of overutilization, inefficiency, and waste. (25%)
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and other visualizations to communicate findings to internal stakeholders, including senior management and clinical departments. (25%)
- Work with actuarial, product, and risk management teams to analyze the financial impact of various benefit plan designs and propose changes to optimize plan performance. (25%)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost containment and performance improvement and develop recommendations for action based on data-driven insights. (25%)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business, Public Health, Epidemiology, Mathematics, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics or related quantitative discipline required
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years relevant experience required
Licenses:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of health care administration, including managed care, Medicaid, Medicare, Exchange and CHP+.
- Knowledge of STARs and Risk Adjustment preferred.
- Skilled in analytical thinking, problem solving, and process improvement.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to simultaneously coordinate and manage several functions, programs, and projects in various stages of completion.
