Eliot Community Human Services is seeking a motivated Medical Records Support Specialist to join our Administration team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or career changers to enter the healthcare field with comprehensive on-the-job training provided. You'll play a vital role in protecting patient privacy and ensuring accurate medical documentation across our diverse behavioral health and community support programs. Working under the guidance of our Medical Records Lead Coordinator, you'll develop expertise in medical record management, HIPAA compliance, electronic health records systems, and healthcare regulations.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with strong computer skills and a commitment to confidentiality who are eager to learn and grow within our organization. No prior healthcare experience is required – just a willingness to develop specialized knowledge and contribute to our mission of providing compassionate, comprehensive care to the communities we serve. Responsibilities:
- Protect the patient’s right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to patient information.
- Scan paper records and other information into patient medical records as requested.
- Enter/scan/upload all requests into the medical records system in order to log, triage and track requests for retrieval purposes. Utilize applicable legacy systems to retrieve PHI as needed.
- Prepare records by determining where records are stored (EMR/Paper/Off-site), order records from the off-site location, when necessary.
- Process all urgent requests as high priority upon receipt.
- Maintain a database of all records processed.
- Assist in the purging of closed paper records on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to move boxes.
- Candidates must maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy regulations, including HIPAA and relevant Massachusetts state laws governing the use and disclosure of medical, mental health, and substance use information.
- Requires excellent organizational and time management skills as well as a strong attention to detail.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Hourly Rate
$24.04 - $26.45 USD
