Medication Technician (Medical Assistant) Position in Phoenix, AZ
Full-Time: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
Located Near 36th St/ Thomas Rd

EXCELLENT COMPENSATION ($17-$21 / hour, depending on years of Medical Assistant experience)
Additional Language Differential Pay Available: Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic, Farsi, Swahili or ASL:
$1/hour (Approximately $2,080 Annually)
The Medication Technician:
- Performs duties in support of therapeutic services to an adult population composed of persons with substance-use disorders, SMI, dual-diagnoses and/or referred persons.
- Assists with medication practices that are focused on increasing the behavioral health recipient's medication independence, quality outcomes and are in compliance with licensure requirements;
- Assists behavioral health recipients in the self-administration of medications in accordance with policy and procedures
- Prepares documentation regarding behavioral health recipients in accordance with regulatory requirements and policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, the documentation of behavioral health recipient self-administration of medication on MAR, electronic medical record or other specified forms
- Educates behavioral health recipients regarding the identification of medications, common benefits, side effects and adverse reactions or other related topics. Notifies appropriate parties of medication/physical health related concerns
- Reviews medication orders, transcribes and updates orders on MAR, coordinates with behavioral health recipient, prescriber clinics, PCP (Primary Care Physician) offices and pharmacies to maintain current accurate medication records and resolve discrepancies that may arise.
- Performs physical count of all schedule IL Ill and IV medications and maintains accurate and complete controlled drug records. Reports any discrepancies in controlled drug records to supervisor
- Assist behavioral health recipients with ordering, re-ordering, maintaining and storing supply of medications and/or medical supplies as required. Completes medication check-in and disposal records. Maintains cleanliness of medication work areas and disposes of hazardous material in appropriate containers
- Performs audits, inspections or other quality improvement activities related to medication selfadministration, problem identification and corrective actions
- Completes medication event notifications and Incident Reports if required, and submits to appropriate parties within required timelines
- Performs office tasks such as work orders, event notifications, Incident Reports, copying, faxing, logging mail and answering phones; receives and verifies logs, keys and cash
- Participates in clinical staff meetings, trainings and other activities as required
