Job Description
Site: The General Hospital Corporation
Mass General Brigham relies on a wide range of professionals, including doctors, nurses, business people, tech experts, researchers, and systems analysts to advance our mission. As a not-for-profit, we support patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham.
Job Summary
Mass General Brigham (MGB) is dedicated to advancing health and well-being for communities disproportionately affected by poor health outcomes. Within the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, the Community Health and Health Equity teams lead innovative efforts to reduce health disparities and achieve real, positive change in the communities we serve. One of our flagship initiatives, the Community Care Van Program, brings high-quality, accessible care directly to underserved areas-offering cancer and hypertension screenings, substance use disorder treatment, and social support services right where people live and work.
As our Mobile Operations Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in this dynamic team, coordinating every aspect of our mobile clinics' daily operations and helping plan for future outreach events. You'll oversee multiple clinics each week in diverse community settings, managing logistics, promoting clinics, coordinating staff, and ensuring smooth patient flow. This is the perfect fit for someone energized by variety and hands-on impact.
The Operations manager works closely with program leadership to shape and expand our mobile health efforts, ensuring they align with system-wide priorities and practices. This position reports directly to the Program Manager of Clinical Community Programs. This is a full-time 40-hour position; requires some evening and weekend hours.
This is a hybrid role and the Ops Manager will be required to work in-person at community clinic sites and remotely when the van is not in session. Most clinics are held in Boston, Revere, Chelsea, and nearby communities, and the Ops Manager will need to have access to transportation to get to clinic sites and fulfill other clinic-related needs. We're looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ever-changing environments-and who is passionate about bringing care into the community.
Qualifications
- Ensure that all operational systems and workflows run smoothly and comply with MGB standards and best practices.
- Support the Program Manager in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new team members.
- Provide direct supervision of the Medical Assistant and Community Health Worker on the mobile van team.
- Maintain and expand partnerships with community organizations; foster strong relationships with community partners; coordinate events and clinics with key stakeholders.
- Address and resolve issues that arise during clinics, such as staffing shortages, technical difficulties, location challenges, or equipment failure.
- Implement standardized operational protocols and data collection tools, ensuring alignment with other mobile teams, and provide training or retraining for staff as needed on operational processes and systems.
- Manage the purchase, maintenance, and inventory of equipment and supplies for the mobile van, including scheduling pick-ups and drop-offs at hospital or pharmacy sites before and after clinics as needed.
- Ensure efficient patient flow during mobile clinics; assist with patient registration and administrative tasks as needed.
- Act as the primary contact for the transportation company, including sending weekly schedules and communicating any changes.
- Provides administrative cross coverage, as needed, to manage staffing and/or operational issues across the Community Care Van program
- Keep educational materials current and available at the clinics.
- Participate in mobile team meetings, meet regularly with staff, address issues, and communicate solutions to the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by program leadership.
