Job Description
Mobile Service Diesel Tech
Pay Range $35 - $50 + Bonus Program
- Job Responsibilities:
- Operate Mobile Service Truck to maintain customers and preform breakdown services.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.
- Troubleshoot complex issues using diagnostic software, technical manuals, and experience.
- Conduct thorough inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure fleet vehicles meet safety and performance standards.
- Collaborate with Service Writers and parts department to coordinate repairs and order necessary components.
2. Skills Required:
- Extensive knowledge of heavy truck systems and components, including engines, drivetrains, and emissions systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with colleagues, customers, and parts suppliers.
- Commitment to safety protocols and regulations governing the maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles.
Additional Skills sought but not required:
- Paccar MX or Cummins certifications
- Hydraulic systems and PTO’s
- Eaton automated Transmission experience.
3. Education and Training:
- Completion of a diesel technology program or apprenticeship, or several years of hands-on experience in heavy truck repair.
- Certification as a journeyman diesel technician or similar credential demonstrating mastery of the trade.
- Ongoing training to stay current with advancements in diesel technology, emissions standards, and safety regulations.
4. Career Development:
- Expand your skills and knowledge through continuing education courses, advanced training programs, or manufacturer-sponsored workshops.
- Pursue specialized certifications in areas such as engine overhauls, hydraulic systems, or advanced diagnostics.
- Explore opportunities for career advancement, such as becoming a shop foreman, service manager, or technical trainer.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements through continuing education and professional development through manufacturer training.
5. Work Environment:
- Mobile Service Truck doing in the field warranty and non-warranty repairs to customer maximum up-time.
- The job will involve travel to customer sites for on-site repairs, technical support, or training sessions.
- The job will involve working outdoors or in noisy, industrial environments.
- Technicians will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate customer needs, including evenings, weekends.
6. Salary and Benefits:
Pay Range $35 - $50 depending on qualifications.
