About the Role

As a Modular Construction Sales Representative at Hayes Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in expanding our footprint in the modular building industry. This position requires strong business development expertise, proven relationship-building skills, and the ability to align client needs with modular construction solutions. You will contribute directly to Hayes Modular’s growth by securing new business opportunities with general contractors, developers, and modular partners while supporting internal Z Modular initiatives.

You will collaborate with estimating, project management, operations, and scheduling teams to deliver accurate proposals and seamless project execution. This is a remote role based in Austin, TX, with travel required.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing long-term client partnerships, and is motivated to exceed sales targets in a growing market.

What You’ll Do:

Business Development & Sales Strategy

  • Develop and execute targeted sales strategies to expand Hayes Modular’s modular installation, set, and related services. 
  • Perform market research to identify new business opportunities with general contractors, developers, and modular building partners. 
  • Prospect and qualify leads, build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, and drive deals to closure. 
  • Initiate outreach with new prospects through direct contact, networking, and industry connections. 
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and responses to RFPs and RFQs tailored to client needs. 
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to achieve mutually beneficial agreements for Hayes Modular and its clients. 
  • Continuously refine tactics based on results, client feedback, and changing market dynamics to consistently achieve or exceed sales targets. 

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary client contact throughout the sales cycle, ensuring customer alignment on project scope, budgets, and timelines. 
  • Conduct in-depth client consultations to understand requirements and provide guidance on modular construction solutions. 
  • Foster strong, long-term client relationships that produce repeat business and quality referrals. 
  • Ensure regular communication and issue resolution, gathering client feedback and identifying additional business opportunities. 
  • Solicit testimonials and develop case studies from satisfied clients to support business development efforts. 

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with internal teams, estimating, project management, operations, and scheduling, to develop accurate proposals, bid packages, and execution plans. 
  • Coordinate with internal scheduling to manage project priorities, balancing resources across external client work and Z Modular initiatives. 
  • Ensure clear communication between sales and operations, aligning expectations prior to project kickoff. 

Market Presence & Brand Promotion

  • Represent Hayes Modular at trade shows, pre-bid meetings, industry conferences, and client presentations. 
  • Build brand reputation and visibility through professional networking and active engagement in modular construction associations and events. 
  • Clearly communicate Hayes Modular’s unique offerings, including modular logistics, crane services, on-site set expertise, and commitment to safety, to differentiate from competitors. 

Sales Forecasting & Reporting

  • Lead the selection, configuration, and implementation of CRM software suited for Hayes Modular’s sales processes and reporting needs. 
  • Customize CRM to track business development activities, pipeline, and reporting across teams. 
  • Train relevant team members in CRM best practices and ensure consistent, high-quality data entry. 
  • Actively use the CRM to maintain accurate and current records of leads, opportunities, interactions, and contracts. 
  • Generate, analyze, and deliver sales activity and forecast reports with insights and recommendations for leadership. 

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor and analyze trends in modular construction, competitor activity, and regulatory or technological developments. 
  • Provide informed recommendations to management on new markets, product opportunities, and competitive positioning. 
  • Facilitate a seamless project handoff from sales to operations, ensuring a positive and consistent customer experience from contract award through project completion. 
  • Support the operations team as needed to address client concerns and promote ongoing satisfaction and retention. 

Customer Success

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of sales, business development, or account management experience in modular construction, general contracting, or related industries.

  • Strong scheduling and project coordination abilities with proven stakeholder management skills.

  • Highly motivated, organized, and accountable, with excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office Suite.

  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Experience with modular installations, logistics, crane operations, or complex scheduling a plus.

  • Established network in the modular, contractor, or developer market preferred.
