Mohs Micrographic Surgeon / Dermatologist (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Mohs Dermatologist provides specialized medical and surgical care for patients with skin cancer, with a primary focus on Mohs micrographic surgery. This role includes the diagnosis, treatment, and reconstruction of cutaneous malignancies, delivering precise, tissue-sparing care while ensuring optimal oncologic and cosmetic outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with cutaneous malignancies, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma in situ
- Perform Mohs micrographic surgery for skin cancers in accordance with established clinical standards
- Interpret histopathologic slides during Mohs procedures
- Perform surgical reconstruction and repair following Mohs excision
- Provide longitudinal dermatologic care and postoperative follow-up
- Collaborate with general dermatologists, plastic surgeons, ENT surgeons, and oncologists as appropriate
- Educate patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, procedural expectations, and preventive skin care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
- Supervise and educate fellows, residents, nursing staff, and clinical support personnel as applicable
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited dermatology residency program
- Completion of an accredited Mohs Micrographic Surgery fellowship
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Dermatology
- Eligibility for or certification in Mohs Micrographic Surgery as applicable
- Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility

Work Environment
- Outpatient dermatologic surgery clinics and procedure suites
- Typically weekday schedules with minimal or no call depending on practice structure
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
- Manual dexterity for fine surgical and histologic techniques
- Visual acuity sufficient for microscopic slide interpretation and surgical precision
Requirements
Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.
Must be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which you are assigned.
