Job Description
Loan Originator
Summary:The Loan Originator is responsible for managing the mortgage application process from initial contact to closing while developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, referral partners, and internal operations staff. This role combines sales, customer service, and compliance responsibilities to ensure a seamless lending experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, review, and submit complete loan applications and required disclosures.
- Verify documentation, including credit reports and bank statements, and obtain letters of explanation when needed.
- Monitor application progress, maintain organized files, and support operations by approving and closing tasks.
- Develop and execute marketing and referral plans to build and sustain business relationships.
- Communicate effectively with applicants and referral partners, setting clear expectations throughout the process.
- Collaborate with underwriting and operations teams to resolve issues and ensure timely closings.
- Maintain professionalism under pressure, take ownership of errors, and manage client concerns constructively.
- Utilize company systems for electronic documentation, credit ordering, and database management.
- Participate in meetings, maintain personal performance goals, and pursue ongoing sales and compliance training.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Active NMLS MLO License in at least one U.S. state (Required)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in mortgage sales or financial services, education, customer service, marketing, health services, or any other field in which you are assisting people in accomplishing their goals honestly and with integrity.

- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with mortgage origination systems and compliance procedures
