Job Description
Principle Responsibilities
- Design and implement security infrastructure: Configure firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), VPNs, and antivirus solutions.
- Monitor network activity: Use tools like SIEM to detect suspicious behavior and respond to threats.
- Conduct security audits and assessments: Regularly test for vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Manage incident response: Develop and execute plans for handling breaches, including forensic analysis and post-event reporting.
- Maintain and update security policies: Create documentation and educate staff on best practices and protocols.
- Coordinate with IT teams and vendors: Collaborate to resolve issues and implement new security measures.
- Develop disaster recovery plans: Ensure business continuity by creating protocols for data backup and recovery in case of attacks.
- Maintain documentation: Record network architecture, security configurations, and incident reports for auditing and future reference.
- Stay current with emerging threats: Research new attack vectors and update defenses accordingly.
- Install and maintain all new and existing hardware, systems, and software for networks.
- Support for Microsoft technologies: Windows Server, DNS, SQL Administration, and Office 365.
- Monitor, update, and upgrade system components.
- Support network and computing infrastructure: WAN, LAN connectivity, routers, switches, and wireless.
- Support and administration of virtual servers: VMware.
- Monitor system performance and implements performance tuning.
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations, and associated systems.
- Document network problems and resolution for future reference.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus and anti-spam.
- Undertake routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security, firewall protection.
- Analyze and resolve faults from a system down.
- Expected to manage multiple projects and respond swiftly to security incidents.
- Resolve support tickets escalated from Help Desk.
- Assist the help desk staff in problems that are beyond their scope or skill set.
- Assist with the creation of and adherence to annual operating budgets and related expenses.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with security systems (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet)
- Proficiency with security tools: firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, encryption.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical abilities and professional office experience.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks: NIST 2.0
- Excellent communication skills for reporting and training.
- Windows Server Operating Systems.
- Virtualization Experience (VMware ESXi preferred).
- Routing and Switching (Fortinet and Cisco preferred).
- Software deployment automation.
Travel
- Hybrid position, willing to travel as needed no more than 25% per month.
Education
- Minimum Associate of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Professional IT Certifications like CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are highly valued.
Work Experience
Two or more years of related experience.
