Nursing Tutor

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Nursing Tutor works with a diverse student population, including underserved and at-risk students from the nursing program to facilitate learning of nursing program material, and NCLEX preparation. The Nursing Tutor facilitates and enhances students' mastery of nursing concepts during in-person and virtual individual and group sessions. This position requires a working knowledge of computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. The Nursing Tutor must possess strong communication and organization skills.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist with the demand for nursing tutor services by facilitating learning as a guide and coach to assist students to become independent learners.

• Integrate effective study learning strategies to maximize students' potential for success with nursing program content and NCLEX

• Collaborate with nursing faculty and Director of Retention to identify students at-risk and develop retention strategies for nursing students.

• Keep detailed notes and attendance of tutoring services.

Licensing/Certification

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Education

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (required)
• Maser, Education/Nursing Education (preferred)

Work Experience

• 3 years practicing as a staff Nurse or unit-based educator
• 3+ years of practice as a RN and experiences as a RN Instructor, coach, or tutor (preferred)

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.

General office environment.
