Job description:
· Administers and implements nutrition services for pregnant mothers and children from infancy through age 5.· Reviews nutrition assessments, works with Teachers and families to ensure special dietary needs are addressed as needed, and promotes child well-being through nutrition education activities for children and families.· Creates a cycle menu for children ensuring all Child Care Food Program requirements are met for infancy through preschool aged children.· Orders appropriate food quantities through a food supply company.· Provides annual and orientation training for cooks including training on food safety, sanitation and nutrition education.· Monitors kitchens to ensure compliance with food safety standards.· Requires accurate data entry and data management skills to ensure compliance with grant requirements.· Works as part of a collaborative team with other Head Start Specialists.· Must be able to work independently, possess good time management and organizational skills, work well with children and families, and have the ability to problem solve.· Must be a registered Dietician or Nutritionist.· Travel within 5 counties is required.
